SANTIAGO DE CHILE, Chile, mar. 2, 2010.- La secretaria de Estado norteamericana, Hillary Clinton, prometió este martes a su llegada a Santiago toda la ayuda necesaria para que Chile supere la tragedia causada por el terremoto que el pasado sábado asoló el país.

"Estamos dispuestos a ayudar sea como sea; así se lo he comunicado al Gobierno, a través de la presidenta (Michelle Bachelet) y también se lo voy a decir al presidente electo (Sebastián Piñera)", señaló Clinton tras reunirse con la mandataria chilena en una base aérea en Santiago.

La jefa de la diplomacia estadounidense elogió que los equipos de rescate chilenos fueran los primeros en llegar a Puerto Príncipe tras el terremoto de Haití en enero pasado y aseguró: "nosotros haremos ahora lo mismo por ustedes, y cuando se vayan los últimos (equipos de rescate), nosotros seguiremos aquí, como amigos de Chile".
